Over 2,000 instant jobs available at the return of Singapore's only non-executive job fair
FastJobs last held its job fair, Jobs & Learning Fair, in 2019 and is bringing it back bigger and better in 2023 with more employers and more job opportunities available.
6 September 2023

Singapore
– 25 of Singapore's best-known companies are looking to fill more than 2,000 vacancies at FastJobs' Jobs Discovery Fest 2023, the only job fair here targeted at non-executive job seekers. Prominent employers such as Certis Group, IKEA, Spa Esprit Group, Plaza Premium Group and others are hiring for job roles across Security, Hospitality and F&B, Retail, Engineering and other industries. In addition to conducting interviews during the event, they will be looking to offer jobs to suitable candidates on-the-spot at Bedok Town Square to fill their vacancies.

The expected turnout of about 2,000 jobseekers can look forward to a wide variety of jobs at the fair. Employers are hiring service crew, retail associate, warehouse assistant, cooks, pest control technicians, engine technicians, aviation screening officers, and guest service officers among others. While mainly hiring for full-time staff, employers will also be looking to fill part-time and contract positions.

This job fair aims to facilitate and encourage Singaporeans to discover new jobs & learning opportunities, giving jobseekers a chance at career mobility, including seniors, caregivers and stay-at-home moms who are returning to the workforce. You can learn how Workforce Singapore's programs and services can support you at different stages of your career journey. On-site career coaches from e2i, the Employment & Employability Institute, are available to offer valuable advice to individuals seeking employment. They will guide jobseekers through various profiling alternatives to help them understand their Values, Interests, Personality, and Skills (VIPS), enabling them to identify their ideal job.

Despite reports of the job market dampening, hiring activity for non-executive roles remains competitive. Participating employer, MX Caterers, will be hiring for Yakiniku Like, one of their many Japanese F&B brands which has upcoming store openings in the East and Central districts. Eugene Kang, HR Manager, shared, "The FastJobs' Jobs Discovery Fest provides an excellent platform for us to showcase exciting career opportunities with us, and strengthen our employer branding among jobseekers. We will be interviewing to fill as many of our vacancies as possible during the event."

Regine Ong from Kiosks Collective, is also hiring to fulfill the manpower needs as their F&B businesses such as Crave and Pezzo grow. She said, "With our expansion of outlets, we have more than 100 vacancies to fill. FastJobs' Jobs Discovery Fest targets Singaporean and Singapore PR jobseekers, saving us the trouble of organising and publicising a mass hiring event, and allows us to hire more efficiently."

In addition to hiring for expanded operations, Watami is keen to engage with local jobseekers who are passionate about F&B. Low Huimin, HR manager, shared, "With FastJobs' Jobs Discovery Fair, we hope to engage with our local base to groom the next generation of potential F&B leaders. The fair will also support us to address our ongoing challenge of reaching masses of candidates due to its outreach efforts to active jobseekers."

Zainul, 33, is currently unemployed and will be interviewing for a Senior Store Specialist role. He says, "While I normally prefer applying for jobs online as fair locations may not always be convenient, I'll be attending FastJobs' job fair to interview with a potential employer. This will be a good opportunity for me to look out for similar jobs from other employers that may suit me."

Simon Poon, 72, has been searching for a job for almost 6 months, and will be interviewing for retail positions at the fair. He says, "I've been in retail for more than 30 years and I want to continue working in retail. However, it's difficult for me to get opportunities, and I prefer face-to-face interviews such as at job fairs where employers can see that I'm still young and active for my age."

"Employers hiring non-executives are constantly seeking ways to find suitable Singaporean & PR candidates to fill their positions. In addition to FastJobs' regular online offering, we are excited to be able to bring back our well-reviewed on-site event in the heartlands to help employers connect directly to jobseekers and get instant hires." said Lim Huishan, FastJobs Singapore's General Manager.

Jobs are now open for applications on the Jobs Discovery Fest 2023 website. To participate, jobseekers can apply to the job listings on the FastJobs app or at www.fastjobs.sg/jobsfest. Shortlisted applicants will be offered prioritised interviews at the event. Jobseekers can also walk-in on event days for instant interviews.
