What is the SGUnited Skills Programme?
The SGUnited Skills Programme is a full-time training programme ranging from six to 12 months. Training courses specially designed to help mid-career jobseekers impacted by COVID-19 acquire industry-relevant skills that can improve their employability.

During the training, trainees will also benefit from employment facilitation efforts by the training providers to match them into the right jobs. Not only are course fees highly subsidised and Skillsfuture credit claimable, trainees also receive an allowance of $1,200 per month for the duration of the programme, to cover basic subsistence expenses.
Is this programme for me?
If you are a Singapore Citizen or PR who has been working for 2 or more years and were impacted by COVID-19, you are eligible for the SGUnited Skills programme. If you have recently graduated from an educational institution or finished National Service in 2019 or 2020 or have graduated earlier but recently finished National Service in 2019 or 2020, you can explore jobs and traineeship opportunities available under the SGUnited Jobs & Skills Package instead.
What kind of training is available under the SGUS Programme?
Training is available across many sectors including:

  • Healthcare and Community Care
  • Construction/Facilities Management
  • Manufacturing
  • Transport and Logistics
  • Food and Nutrition
  • Tourism
  • Security, and more
These courses are offered by Continuing Education Training Centres, including Institutes of Higher Learning. You can opt for a 6 or 12 month option.

You can expect to acquire industry-relevant skills to enhance your employability and eventually help you towards gaining employment. Trainees will also benefit from having hands-on application of the skills learnt during the programme which offer opportunities such as workplace immersions and industry projects. This allows trainees to have real-life, hands-on experience that they can use in their new careers.

The benefits of the SGUS Programme
  • You will receive a training allowance. As the training programme is a full-time commitment, trainees will receive a monthly training allowance of $1,200 for the duration of their training to cover their basic expenses. This allows trainees to focus on completing their training and learning as much as they can without worrying about providing for their basic expenses. This means, however, that trainees are discouraged from having part-time jobs as the training requires full-time commitment over the 6 to 12 month period.
  • If you find a job during the course, you can exit the programme. The training is designed to be flexible, and is conducted in a modular format so that participants may exit the programme should they find jobs.
  • Affordable full-time programme. Course fees will be highly subsidised and individuals can even use their SkillsFuture credits to offset the course fees. Nett fees payable for a six-month course is $500, and nett fees payable for a 12-month course is $1000.
